Gus Van Sant (1952)

Biografía

Gus Van Sant (Louisville, Kentucky; 24 de julio de 1952) es un director de cine, productor, guionista y escritor estadounidense.[2] Considerado en sus inicios un representante del New Queer Cinema,[3] con películas como My Own Private Idaho (1991),[4] sus películas destacan por su carácter independiente,[5] su atrevimiento temático[6] y su carácter underground.[7] A lo largo de su trayectoria ha obtenido 68 nominaciones, que incluyen dos a los Premios Óscar como mejor director por Good Will Hunting (1997)[8] y Milk (2008),[9] y 44 galardones entre los que destaca la Palma de Oro en festival de Cannes por Elephant (2003).[10][11]
